2009 Fall Garage Sale: Camera Accessories

Thanks to nagging muscle pains and the holiday, I missed the last two Fridays, but let's try to make up for that. To compliment the camcorders that are for sale, how about a few accessories to go along with them?

(Don't forget you can go to http://travistubbs.net/tag/2009fallgaragesale to see other items that are still available.)

Product: Audio-Technica TwinMic Multi-Purpose VHF Wireless Microphone System
Asking Price: $80.00 each (or best offer)
The reason I like the camcorder mentioned in a previous post is the external microphone jack. That's where the Audio-Technica TwinMic Multi-Purpose VHF Wireless Microphone System came into play. This set included a miniature lavalier condenser microphone, a handheld microphone, a transmitter, and a receiver. The receiver includes a earphone jack so that you can listen to the audio that is coming from the microphone. I didn't get much use out of these microphones. The couple of times I did use they, they worked great. Both the receiver and transmitter work off a single 9V battery, so I would definitely pick up a couple of those. If they make rechargeable 9V batteries, maybe get those instead. Like most everything else, I have two (2) of these sets available. You can find more details about this microphone set at Audio-Technica's web site.

Oh... speaking of those batteries, ...

How about throwing in some batteries for free? You can either choose between the not-opened Energizer 4-pack or the opened-but-only-one-was-used Rayovac. Your call!

Original Purchase Price/Date (First Set): $100.95 / 2008 Apr 12
Original Purchase Price/Date (Second Set): $127.23 / 2008 Aug 26

Product: Azden CAM-3 3-Channel Mic Mixer
Asking Price: $30.00 (or best offer)
As long as you got microphones, how about a way to mix them on the go? That's what the Azden CAM-3 3-Channel Mic Mixer can do! Since some people can be a little loud (like me) or a little quiet, you need a way to be able to adjust their audio to the proper levels. The CAM-3, as the title implies, can mix up to three different channels of audio. Since this is a mixer intended for those on the go, it does not require any batteries. It also has a clip on the side. One thing I need to make very clear is that the audio inputs and output work a little weird. The audio output is in stereo. Input Channel 1 will record audio on the Right Channel of the Stereo output. Input Channel 2 will output audio on the Left Channel of the Stereo Output. Input Channel 3 will record audio in Stereo (Left and Right Channel) and will output as Stereo. This device is meant monaural sound but can work with stereo as well. Just remember the information stated. I only have one of these available. Head over to Azden's web site for more information.

Original Purchase Price/Date: $45.99 / 2008 Aug 26

Product: Smith-Victor DP10 Diffusion Screen
Asking Price: $10.00 (or best offer)
Finally, we have the Smith-Victor DP10 Diffusion Screen. In all honesty, I can't tell you what the point of it is exactly. It was recommended by the folks at Wolf Camera, so I took their advice and picked one up. Here's what I can tell you from the label on it:
  • Provides Soft Light From Any Reflector Light
  • Instant Clip-On Mounting
  • For 10-inch Reflectors
And that's it. Not really much to work on, really. Hopefully you can find a little more than that over at Smith-Victor's web site.

2009 Fall Garage Sale: HP LaserJet 1018 Laser Printer and HP Wireless G USB Print Server (2101nw)

It's still Friday for about another hour, meaning this post counts! Needless to say, I still have plenty of stuff to give away! If you've missed out on any of my other posts on what's for sale, you can now do that with ease! Just head on over to http://travistubbs.net/tag/2009fallgaragesale. If it doesn't say it's gone, it's still available! So, check out that, along with today's offerings!

IMG_0220.JPG
Product: HP LaserJet 1018 black and white laser printer
Asking Price: $55.00

SOLD!

There's really not much to say about this. It's a laser printer. It prints in black and white. It's not exactly speedy, but does what it does. Still good for those that print out a lot of documents. Just don't expect the speed of a copier. Definitely faster than an inkjet printer, though (once it gets going). According to the box, the printer can print up to 12 pages per minute at 600 dpi.

One thing I want to stress about this printer: out of the box, the HP LaserJet 1018 is NOT compatible with Mac OS X and Linux-based operating systems. This is a Windows-only printer. That being said, there is a small possibility to get this printer working in those incompatible OSes, but it requires a LOT of work and is still NOT guaranteed to work. You've been warned.

Product: HP 2101nw Wireless G USB Print Server
Asking Price: $35.00

SOLD!

Let me start out by saying the name of the product is a lie. Let me explain. Although this is a wireless print server, it's not a TRUE networked printer device.

To use the printer wirelessly, each computer must install the Wireless G USB Print Server software (available for Windows XP and Vista, and Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3662206&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us). Before you can print, you must tell the software you want to connect to the print server (though the Notification Tray or Dock icon). Your computer will take a couple moments to recognize the printer, at which point you'll be connected and then can print.

Only one person can be connected to the print server at a time, thus if anyone else is connect, they will be disconnected if someone else connects. With this understand, the device is really more of a wireless USB port and not a print server (although compatible HP printers are the only thing that can be connected to this). For a list of compatible printers, head over to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01428401&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3662206.

Outside of it's true functionality, it does work as it should. A printer doesn't have to be connected directly to your computer anymore and can be placed anywhere within range of your wireless router/access point. This is definitely useful for those with space issues.

Check out HP's web site for additional information:

2009 Fall Garage Sale: Dell Inspiron 530 (Celeron 420) and Gateway 19-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor with Speakers

Hey! More stuff! Purchase together or just one or the other! There's also one set of the Panasonic PV-GS35 Camcorder with Tripod Set still available!

Product: Dell Inspiron 530 (Intel Celeron 420)
Asking Price: $120.00 (or best offer)

SOLD!

This refurbished Dell Inspiron 530 (purchased from Dell Outlet) comes with an Intel Celeron 420 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive, front-panel Memory Card Reader, and integrated graphics and surround sound audio. Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic comes pre-installed. The system originally came with 512 MB of RAM, but an additional 1 GB of RAM was installed. The on-board network device was only capable of 10/100 Mbps, so a Gigabit Network Card (NETGEAR GA311) was installed. In additional to that, a 4+1 Port USB 2.0 Card was installed as well, giving the system a total of 13 USB Ports (4 front, 8 back, 1 internal). Trust me. They go fast when you have a lot of devices. Although Windows Vista Home Basic is installed on the computer, you can downgrade the system to Windows XP (any version) or even install Ubuntu Linux (other Linux distributions are possible, but Dell officially supports Ubuntu Linux). The Inspiron 530 is also capable of running Windows 7. It's debatable as to how well it runs it, though. It was so-so for me, but I didn't do much tweaking to the system, so it could have probably did better. As always, your mileage may vary. Now, don't expect to be playing Crysis, Unreal, or anything that would be taxing to this system. It's mainly aimed at being a simple tasks computer. Email, web browsing, word-processing, or a file/print server. It's still better than a Netbook/Nettop using an Intel Atom processor (it can actually run YouTube and Hulu full-screen with stuttering!), but don't expect this thing to be a gaming machine.

Product: Gateway 19-inch Flat Panel Monitor with Speaker Bar
Asking Price: $70.00 (or best offer)

Up next is an item that could be a considered a companion to the computer listed above. This is a 19″ Widescreen LCD display from Gateway with additional Speaker Bar. The display offers a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900. You can also use either VGA or a DVI connection (or both!). That’s the basics of the monitor as I know. If you want the really nitty gritty details, check it out on Gateway’s web site (link below) because, well..., I'm not sure how much more you can describe a monitor. In additional to the monitor, I’m also including the Speaker Bar accessory. The Speaker Bar has headphone ports on either side of the bar and an analog microphone port on the right side of the bar. A volume knob is on front. The Speaker Bar is powered by USB so a separate power supply is not needed.

*NOTE: VGA and DVI Cables not included.

2009 Fall Garage Sale: Panasonic PV-GS35 Camcorder with Tripod Set

Hey kids! Remember earlier in the year that I mentioned I wanted to sell some things? Well, it's that time!

I have began by posting these over on Facebook first to give my close friends a chance at dibs. If I receive no response from them in a week, then I'm going to give the kids over on the Twitterverse a chance at the items. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to add a new blog post with individual items I want to sell. I had talked about these things on my blog previously (here and here), so I'll be rehashing those descriptions here.

I seriously need to part with these things before they depreciate in value any faster. If you know of any people that are wanting to give theses items a home, let me know. All proceeds from the sell will go to the "Travis Tubbs Has To Pay His Bills Fund".

Product: Panasonic PV-GS35 miniDV Camcorder with Tripod Set
Asking Price: $180.00 (or best offer)

The PV-GS35 camcorder is a simple Standard Definition (SD) miniDV palm camcorder capable of 30x Optical Zoom and 1000x (yes, 1000x) Digital Zoom. You can watch recordings through the viewfinder or use the built-in 2.5 inch LCD display.

It also includes a SD Card slot to store pictures taken with the camera. Unfortunately, you CANNOT store video on the SD Card. Also, it only supports SD Cards up to 1 GB in size. Pictures are taken at only 0.3 Megapixels (640×480) and saved as JPEG pictures.

The one feature I really enjoyed on this camera that I had trouble finding on other cameras is the Microphone Jack. This allows you to connect an external microphone to the camera instead of having to rely on the built-in microphone. For those using a wireless or handheld microphone, this will really help in audio quality.

The camcorder includes an A/C Adapter with Battery Charger, a Battery, Shoulder Strap, A/V Cable, USB Cable, IR Remote Control, and Video Editing Software. I have also purchased an extra battery for the camcorder.

More detailed information about this camcorder can be found over at Panasonic’s web site.

Original Purchase Price/Date (Camcorder): $349.95 / 2006 Mar 06
Original Purchase Price/Date (Extra Battery): $23.45 / 2008 May 23

With the camcorder, I am also including the Sunpak 7001DX Tripod.

There's not much to say about the tripod. It's very lightweight (2.9 lbs with the ability to hold up to 4.4 lbs) and does the job. It stands at 22.6 inches and 58.3 inches when fully extended. The tripod also comes with a travel bag and has a lifetime warranty.

More details from the box:
• Geared center column with tension adjustment
• Second bubble-level
• Folding carrying handel
• D-shape three-section legs with oversizes 0.9 inch diameter
• Locking metal leg braces
• Quick-lock levers, heavy-duty rubber feet, and retractable spike tips
• Second 1/4"-20 mount and accessory hook at bottom of column

Original Purchase Price/Date (Tripod): $29.95 / 2006 Mar 06

What I don't show in the photos are the other things I can throw in, such as miniDV tapes! I can't remember if I've used any of them, but I'm not going to need them any more, so might as well give them away with this!

If you have any questions, hit me up on Twitter (Replies or DMs are fine). You're more than welcome to tell others you know as well.
